Our Vision. All people should have access to the food they need. Our Mission. The Mission of Wayside is to increase access to food for those in need in Southern Maine by providing a system for community based volunteers who serve prepared meals where such meals are needed, and by collaborating with other hunger agencies in developing an efficient network for the collection and equitable distribution of food. Wayside shall be guided in this mission by a deep compassion for our common humanity. Our Location. The Wayside Soup Kitchen shares space and collaborates with Preble Street, but is an independent organization. Our kitchen and dining room are located at 252 Oxford Street in Portland, Maine. Our warehouse is located at 135 Walton Street in Portland, Maine. We want to provide turkeys for families that need them for Thanksgiving! To do so, we need your help. Please join us in trying to provide turkeys for families throughout Cumberland County!
How can you help? From now until Thanksgiving, work with your co-workers to buy a frozen turkey or a gift card ($25, $35, $40, or $50) that Wayside Food Rescue can use to buy turkeys.
On Monday, November 17, drop off the turkeys and/or gift cards at either the Soup Kitchen (252 Oxford Street) or our warehouse (135 Walton Street) or if you have a lot of turkeys, call Wayside Food Rescue (712-4928, 712-4929, 775-4939) and we will pick them up!
Please help us to help those of us who are less fortunate and need a little help in providing a bountiful and joyous Thanksgiving Dinner!
Community Support Night for Wayside Soup Kitchen
Come Support Wayside at O'Naturals in Portland on SaturdayDecember 6 from 3:30 - 7:30. During this time, Wayside will receive 10% of all sales! O’Naturals is located on Exchange Street in the Old Port section.
